Today I was listening to the science lesson. The kids were learning about insects. The teacher brought cases that had dead bugs in them. I thought it would be cool to see the bugs so I stole a look. I’ll give you one piece of advice though, dead bugs are not so pleasant. You don’t want to be around them for so long! After a while you get grossed out!

During fourth period, everyone was watching the TV. I was too short to see it, so I climbed on top of a table, and I was able to see the spelling bee! Slowly, more kids were being eliminated, until there were two left. One of them was from our class! The other one was in 7th grade, I think. She spelled “panzer” wrong. The kid from our class spelled “rouge” right, and she WON! Everyone stood up and cheered. Even though it was loud enough, I cheered too!

Greetings from New Jersey!

Welcome to Hainesport Elementary School.

Imagine…lockers in the classroom.

Playing jenga…while waiting for the buses to go home.

The Hainesport Hawk…this is our mascot.

Hello friends,

It’s a cold day here in New Jersey. I’m quite lonely here in this empty classroom since a snowstorm cancelled school. I hear pictures will be sent shortly, maybe even today.

Hainesport School is a K-8 building and there is much to see and hear. In one of the pictures you will notice me with a strange creature. That’s Hawk, the school mascot. I went down to watch some of the basketball game after school on Monday. Upon returning to the room I heard some music and students singing. The group is in rehearsals for the school musical, Suesical. They were singing about an elephant and a speck of dust.  How strange!

I am anxious to see the students tomorrow and let them show me more of the school and area. We’ll take a group photo to send to you. Have a good day.

  Your friend,

  The Roaming Gnome

Hi gang,

I am in the “Garden ” state.  My friends here were really excited to finally meet me. This should be a fun place. Everyone wants to take me somewhere. I’ve already been photographed several times here in the school.  I know I am in good hands. I’ll be in touch with you in a few days.
